Heart of Africa
Heart Of Africa, or HOA, is our service partner. FYLA is dedicated to raising funds to help Chamasowa Primary School students in Malawi, Africa. Our members diligently raise money by recycling and holding parking lot sales and have been able to set up a cafeteria for the students at the school. With a motto that emphasizes fostering the youth of future generations of the African continent, FYLA along with HOA hopes to continue fundraising enough money to support not only meals and school supplies but also a healthy, organized learning environment.
FYLA members commit to recycling plastic, glass, and aluminum every month. All proceeds are directed to our Heart of Africa program, which raises tens of thousands of dollars every year toward providing food and education for communities in Africa.
Tutoring
We provide tutoring help for homework for around 100 elementary students on various subjects, mostly specializing in English and math. We hope to provide assistance and education to younger students from low-income families as well as local orphanages.
Most students are from families in which English is not the primary language, thus requiring homework assistance. In addition to tutoring, we hope to encourage a lifelong passion for learning.
Benetones
In partnership with the Benetones, meaning "good sound," is a youth volunteer group composed of high school musicians from around Orange County, CA.
Originally founded in 2014 with only seven members, the Benetones has expanded to include over twice as many members, and it continues to welcome any new musicians to the group.
Cleanups
Every month, FYLA commits to beautifying local parks, beaches, and public facilities to benefit our community.
